I know that this blog should be more about my designs, but I feel that I cannot allow myself to miss an opportunity to share vital information with my fellow Californians.

It has come to my attention that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning to cut state employee budgets to minimum wage BUT not California minimum wage, but the federal minimum wage at $6.55.

Americans, especially those who live in California which has always had high cost of living, cannot afford to live on minimum wage. Please join me, and the millions of others who will send an e-mail to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

http://www.couragecampaign.org/StopArnoldNow

PS. For those who think this won’t accomplish nothing, you are wrong. I have been told by politicians that most make their decisions based upon the ammount of phone calls, letters, etc. that they have received.

Please take 1 minute out of your life and fill out a TINY form.

Thank you,
Gilbert Sanchez

I finally got my laser etched moleskien today from Modfly!

I bought the Coffee Steam Large/Ruled for Jessica, and the Coffee Spill Small/Ruled for me. The artist Susan Rudat does some amazing artwork. The Coffee Steam is awesome, and definitly needs to be seen on the large one to appreciate all the details.

I know there is a huge moleskin following. I used to own a small/comic style one but I gave that to my cousin who is a much better artist. I decided to go with a Ruled version because I often want something to jot down notes with.

So far I only have a personal journal entry (which I’m debating on continuing) but I’m wondering I should turn it into a portable notepad…

Any suggestions are welcomed!

I’ve cleaned up my theme. I have no clue why I waited so long. I knew by looking at it that there was something funky about it. The font was not appropriate and it was too large. So I did some work with Firebug (http://www.getfirebug.com/), which I highly recommend if you’re a webmaster, and found a few flaws in some of my code. I removed some ugly code and cleaned up a few other things. I removed a sidebar twitter plugin, and replaced it with one that requires a bit of PHP work, but it’s much nicer IMO.

Also, I’ve added a few websites that I’ve worked on onto my portfolio page. I’m going to start working on getting full screen shots, and uploading examples of work that I’ve done but not published (i.e. templates that didn’t go through). Also a few pieces of artwork that I’ve done through out my career.

I’ve got more free time at work so expect some more improvements.

Till next time,

Hello everyone!

Well I've been running around these past few months. School in addition to joining school organizations. I have joined Students For Justice (www.StudentsForJustice.org) and Focus the Nation. So I've been committing a lot of time to these groups along with homework. I've cut back on my hours at work, but I may need to bring them back up (so many bills!).

So client updates. Airserco never responded to my quote so we'll see what happens in the future, but I have finished most of the work that my current clients have asked for. I've also become involved in running the Students For Justice website, flickr account, yahoo listserv, etc. JC Customs has been finished to the specifications of the customer. Mr. T's Car Audio hasn't though… I need to invest more time in getting involved with that customer and getting data for their shop.

So for anyone who is interested, that is why I never blog!

See you all later!

So this week school began again. I have 3 official classes and 1 unofficial class. The unofficial class is one that I have already taken, but am "re-taking" for a better grade. Since I got a C the first time around, I can't sign up for the class officially, but my [awesome] teacher is going to try to put in a grade change. I'm also working an another grade from last quarter and if I get that fixed then I'll have straight A's for that quarter. I'm thinking about taking a Native American religion class for fun since I love learning about different religions (especially indigenous religions).

    My Official classes are:

Poli 16 – Grassroots Democracy: Social Movements Since the 1960

ICS 17 – Critical Consciousness and Social Change

GEO 1 – Introduction to Geography

Some more good news! THEY FINALLY HAVE WIFI AT DEANZA!!! Woohoo! I don't need to go down to whole foods to use their free WiFi anymore! [I'll still probably go to get a bite ;P]

This weeks been hard for me because I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I think I realized that I really want to be an intellectual and an academic. I remember hearing my teacher tell us that she's an intellectual and we all laughed. She just gave us a funny look like, "that wasn't a joke…" She went on to explain what an intellectual is. Ever since then I've felt that maybe that is the route I want to go. I'm also really inspired by my cousin Juan, err… Dr. Juan Sanchez. He's the first Dr. in our family, and I can see that he is truely passionate. I think that I may have some of that passion for school. The thought of joining the honors program has crossed my mind for a while, and I'm contemplating whether I should join…

Wow these past two weeks I have been working non-stop! I've been working with my dad, and we run around most of the time all over the bay area. We have 3 big projects that need to be completed as soon as possible. We got one school that opens next week, and we need to run a ton of wire and get someone who does fire alarms. The "head hancho", who is normally a contractor (but not this time -_-) is putting a ton of pressure on us.

Now for the good news! I am in debt up to my ears, but this next check should be HUGE. Hopefully I can pay my cousin Juan, the company, and my CC. So far I've gotten a ton of overtime, not to mention so work that I'm getting paid from last pay check. So hopefully I can get out of the red. I've been using wesabe.com to keep track of my spending. I like it because you can set goals and asociate tags with them. For example, I'll tag all my visits to taco bell as fast food, and I'll create a goal that says "buy less fastfood" and tie the fastfood tag to it. So then it shows me charts of how much I've been spending, and let me know if I'm on track.

So now I need to jump in bed because I have to wake up at 6 am. Till next blog!

P.S. Hi Leslee! (One of the few readers of my blogs =P)

So today I had to stop by Orchard Supply to return some stuff my dad bought. Me and my cousin Juan also needed to buy a new faucet to replace our damaged one at home. So we stood around waiting for the horrible service that is OSH. While waiting this guy walks by putting tags all over the place. So I assume he works there. We wait and wait. And then he walks by again and we ask him a question. And he tells us what we needed to know, but to top it off he says, "I don't even work…. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night." I was laughing so hard. I didn't stop laughing for a good 5-10 minutes. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, here is one of the Holiday Inn commercials.

So my Fall quarter ended last Friday! I'm hoping for all A's this quarter. I think I did much better than last quarter. I didn't drop any classes and I read… well most of my books. This quarter I took Philosophy 30, Sociology 5, and Human 10. The only class I'm worried about is Philosophy.

Last week me and Jessica returned from Chicago! My cousin Juan and his wife Evelyn were married on Friday the 22nd. Me and Jessica left Tuesday night from Oakland and got there Wednesday morning. We left with some of my family. It was really fun! I got to see the Chicago architecture, but I missed out on the double-decker bus and the boat ride =\ I'll probably post some pictures to my flickr account, so click on the button to the right on the sidebar to see them!

So now I need to find a job so I can make some money to pay Juan for the plane tickets and to fund me and Jessica's 3 year anniversary this month

I just saw a film called The Sixth Sun: Mayan Uprising in Chiapas by Saul Landau. It's mostly on the Zapatistas, but it also covers NAFTA, Emilio Zapata, and Liberation Theology. The movie is a great view of what has happened to Mexico after NAFTA. A once thriving Mexican economy destroyed by Free Trade.

    The Films Description:

Before dawn on New Year's Day, 1994, armed Mayan Indians in the Mexican
state of Chiapas declared war on the government, seizing eight towns
and sending shock waves through Mexico's political establishment.
Calling themselves the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, these
crudely armed peasants set in motion events that ripped away a modern
face of prosperity and stability to reveal "the other Mexico." Visually
interweaving the Mayan past and the Mexican Revolution with
contemporary reality, this documentary portrays an epic confrontation
pitting impoverished peasants against large landowners and government
forces in Mexico's poorest state. The video features interviews with
Subcommandante Marcos, the ski-masked "poet-warrior," as well as with
others in the Zapatista movement. Other protagonists include Bishop
Samuel Ruiz, Mexico's outspoken defender of indigeneous rights;
peasants on estates they have occupied; angry ranchers forced from
their land; conservative Catholics who charge the Bishop with inciting
revolution; government officials and army officers; and the notorious
guardias blancas, the landowners' private armies.

I highly recommend this movie… but it's impossible to find. I have a copy of it, and am willing to lend it out.
