Minimum Wage for State Employees

Posted by Gilbert in Personal

I know that this blog should be more about my designs, but I feel that I cannot allow myself to miss an opportunity to share vital information with my fellow Californians.

It has come to my attention that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning to cut state employee budgets to minimum wage BUT not California minimum wage, but the federal minimum wage at $6.55.

Americans, especially those who live in California which has always had high cost of living, cannot afford to live on minimum wage. Please join me, and the millions of others who will send an e-mail to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

PS. For those who think this won't accomplish nothing, you are wrong. I have been told by politicians that most make their decisions based upon the ammount of phone calls, letters, etc. that they have received.

Please take 1 minute out of your life and fill out a TINY form.

Thank you,
Gilbert Sanchez

New Moleskine!

Susan Rudat's Coffee Steam
Coffee Steam by Susan Rudat is beautiful!

I finally got my laser etched moleskien today from Modfly!

I bought the Coffee Steam Large/Ruled for Jessica, and the Coffee Spill Small/Ruled for me. The artist Susan Rudat does some amazing artwork. The Coffee Steam is awesome, and definitly needs to be seen on the large one to appreciate all the details.

I know there is a huge moleskin following. I used to own a small/comic style one but I gave that to my cousin who is a much better artist. I decided to go with a Ruled version because I often want something to jot down notes with.

So far I only have a personal journal entry (which I'm debating on continuing) but I'm wondering I should turn it into a portable notepad...

Any suggestions are welcomed!

Portfolio Update, Theme Cleanup

Posted by Gilbert in Personal, Update

I've cleaned up my theme. I have no clue why I waited so long. I knew by looking at it that there was something funky about it. The font was not appropriate and it was too large. So I did some work with Firebug (http://www.getfirebug.com/), which I highly recommend if you're a webmaster, and found a few flaws in some of my code. I removed some ugly code and cleaned up a few other things. I removed a sidebar twitter plugin, and replaced it with one that requires a bit of PHP work, but it's much nicer IMO.

Also, I've added a few websites that I've worked on onto my portfolio page. I'm going to start working on getting full screen shots, and uploading examples of work that I've done but not published (i.e. templates that didn't go through). Also a few pieces of artwork that I've done through out my career.

I've got more free time at work so expect some more improvements.

Till next time, Gilbert

Where is Gilbert Sanchez?

Posted by Gilbert in Clients, Personal, Update

Hello everyone!

Well I've been running around these past few months. School in addition to joining school organizations. I have joined Students For Justice (www.StudentsForJustice.org) and Focus the Nation. So I've been committing a lot of time to these groups along with homework. I've cut back on my hours at work, but I may need to bring them back up (so many bills!).

So client updates. Airserco never responded to my quote so we'll see what happens in the future, but I have finished most of the work that my current clients have asked for. I've also become involved in running the Students For Justice website, flickr account, yahoo listserv, etc. JC Customs has been finished to the specifications of the customer. Mr. T's Car Audio hasn't though... I need to invest more time in getting involved with that customer and getting data for their shop.

So for anyone who is interested, that is why I never blog!

See you all later!
